A few days ago, temperature rose up to 38º C (100º F) and humidity almost 80 per cent. I had experience
higher temperatures in other countries, as in Nicaragua or in Yucatan Peninsula (Mexico), but I never thought in Barcelona the summer could be so warm like this. Yes, I know, I was wrong. It is the Mediterranean!
So, that morning I decided to take some food and coffee (I love coffee) and went with my dog to one of the many parks that exists in Sant Cugat del Vallès, Barcelona. We enjoyed it so much (I hope my dog did too). I sat on the floor, ate some food, drunk my coffee, and read an interesting book La era del vacío (The era of emptiness) written by french philosopher and sociologist Gilles Lipovetsky.
Silence was so peaceful, and only was broken by the gorgeous song of the cicadas, the sound of warm summer days and nights.
I remember song of the cicadas in many parts of Mexico, specially when my father was driving our family car heading to the beaches of the states of Veracruz or Guerrero; or maybe just near Mexico City going to the warm city of Cuernavaca.
I always thought that this sound is very comfortable, inspiring, and maybe nostalgic. And I specially recall the song of the cicadas on those warm summer nights near the sea when I close my eyes.
A loud noise produced by park workers pulled me out of my thoughts. So I decided it was time to take a walk and we went to the building complex that appears in the picture.
This complex has four different spaces: an auditorium, a cinema, a music school and a school of arts. Due to the beautiful architectonic design I decided to take some pictures. Why did I choose this one? I just uploaded this one because we can see all complex parts: auditorium and cinema (two of the biggest buildings); the school of arts on the right hand and the music school on the left hand.
The other thing why I chose it, is because of the impressive sky with a heavy storm approaching, a picture of the warmest summer days in Sant Cugat so far, and also the song of the cicadas that drives my mind to the typical tropical Mexican nights of my childhood.
